Linking socio-economic aspects to power system disruption models

Increasing reliance on uninterrupted electricity supply against emerging threats such as climate change and cyberattacks calls for higher resilience of societies power disruptions. A better understanding social economic impacts during these disruptions would be important planning improvements. However, traditional energy system models rarely include aspects. This paper presents an integrated framework containing a geospatial operation model, capable emulating component failures restoration according to environmental conditions, with link spatial values population, activity, critical services facilities. The was applied analyzing the effects uncontrolled controlled outages two windy winter weeks in Finland. case illustrated how optimization could reduce societal costs outage by shifting shortage regions where are lower part other factors.
